World of Warcraft’s Warlords of Draenor expansion has now entered its alpha testing period, giving gamers who signed up for the test phase the chance to glimpse the new content.
Blizzard issued a blog post regarding the alpha today, clarifying that this is a very early version of the expansion, and not every new addition will be available to play. “The expansion content available during this first phase will be quite limited—many of the expansion’s major features, such as Garrisons, won’t be available until a later point in the testing process. This early phase of testing will help us ramp up for our larger beta phase later on, when we’ll be inviting more players.”
This will lead up to a larger beta test down the line, to which more players will be invited. Blizzard also confirmed a change in file format, starting with the new expansion, from their previous Mo’PaQ system to CASC. According to the developer this will improve game performance, speed up patching and provide various other benefits.
