Bandai Namco has announced that From Software’s action fantasy sequel Dark Souls 2 has shifted over a million copies. That’s not including sales of the PC version, which haven’t yet been taken into account.
Some 1.2 million copies of Dark Souls 2 have been sold worldwide. Once you factor in the PC version, you begin to see what a hot property this is for Bandai Namco. The company revealed the news in its financial results for the fiscal year, also announcing an overall £145 million profit for the firm.
It’s still a difficult time for Bandai Namco, with profits down 22.6 per cent on last year, but it’s not all bad news for a company that also crosses into toy and merchandise production. The company’s Mobile Gundam franchise generated 80.2 billion yen, or £464m, on its own during the financial year.
