N7 Day took place last Friday, and several new pieces of concept art for Mass Effect 4 were revealed during Bioware’s annual Mass Effect celebrations.
There’s a good chance that these fittingly spectacular shots of sci-fi loveliness won’t even make it into the full game, but at least we know our trusty (untrusty?) Mako will be back.
Other than these new images information on the next game in Bioware’s flagship series was fairly thin on the ground. During a roundtable discussion the developers did suggest that the next game would be heavily focused on exploration, and would feature alien races not seen in the original trilogy.
Taking on a more Jean-Luc Picard role to good old Shepard’s Jack Bauer heroics would be intriguing. It’d be nice just to zoom around space exploring and solving disputes between nascent civilizations rather than having some great, all-powerful evil to fight.
Oh, and it’s not actually called Mass Effect 4. That’s just easy shorthand while Bioware thinks up a catchier title. This is very much intended to be a new story in the universe, though the main character will have ties to the N7 special forces organisation, of which Commander Shepard was a member.
