The first major addition to the island dictator sim Tropico 5 has just been announced. Now El Presidente will have the option to expand his industry into water-based ventures.
A whole slew of coastal and off-shore buildings are introduced with Waterborne, including "luxurious floating apartments," and submarines can be commissioned to beef up our naval power.
It's the first time developer Haemimont Games has focused so much on water gameplay, which is why we'll need to handle 'water traffic' as well.
"Build brand new off-shore alternatives for defence, food, energy, entertainment and even housing. Organise and co-ordinate transport to production buildings like the Oyster and Kelp farms, construct tidal power plants as an eco-friendly alternative to nuclear power and build luxurious floating apartments. Launch military submarines to bolster your naval forces - or create an exotic bathysphere attraction to compliment your bustling tourist paradise."
The Waterborne expansion includes a new campaign spanning six scenarios, with new dialogue and story. All the new content and mechanics are fully compatible with existing island maps.
Tropico 5: Waterborne releases on PC December 17th.
