If you can't wait to play the Legacy of Kain multiplayer spin-off Nosgoth then you might be interested in the Steam Early Access version now available. Until it reaches open beta it's not free-to-play.
For now gaining access ahead of launch is locked behind six Founders Packs starting at £12/$20, with the most expensive at £81/$135. These include in-game currency and exclusive perks.
The closed beta for Nosgoth began February 27th and Square Enix has promised that those who don't wish to pay for it needn't fear being victimised in a pay-to-win arena.
"Nosgoth will be on Steam Early Access until Open Beta, after which the game will then be found in the Free-to-play section of Steam," blurbs the Steam store page. "When in Open Beta users will be able to access & play Nosgoth for free. It is our recommendation that if you aren't sure about the experience you'll get in Closed Beta, you should wait for Open Beta and play Nosgoth for free." For now they're running a 10% discount off five of the packs for a few days.
Nosgoth is a team-based human vs. vampire multiplayer game, which is tied into the Legacy of Kain universe.
