If you were hoping to get your paws on one of Valve’s much-discussed Steam Machines, you’ll have to wait a little longer. In a community blog post today the gaming giant revealed that it will be pushing the release window back to 2015.
“Obviously we’re just as eager as you are to get a Steam Machine in your hands,” reads the post. ”But our number one priority is making sure that when you do, you’ll be getting the best gaming experience possible. We hope you’ll be patient with us while we get there. Until then, we’ll continue to post updates as we have more stories to share.”
Valve also say that rigorous product testing is ongoing, with various live playtests using wireless prototype controllers being run for ”everyone from industry professionals to die-hard gamers to casual gamers.”
Feedback from these tests will radically improve the ultimate performance of the hardware, the company promises, but it the process will take longer than they initially planned. Hence the push back from an original window of 2014 to 2015.
”As always, we love getting feedback on the Steam Machine and Steam controller from the community,” finish Valve. ”After all, you’re the people we want to be happiest when we release them.”
