Interesting news for fans of Harebrained Schemes’ rather good Kickstarter RPG Shadowrun Returns - the game’s Dragonfall expansion will receive an upgraded Director’s Cut edition later this year, with a bunch of newly added content.
The best news? If you already own the expansion, or backed the Kickstarter campaign for the core game, you’ll get the new version for free.
It’s a special treat for fans to mark the anniversary of the launch of Shadowrun Returns, inspired by similiar director’s cuts of The Witcher games released by CD Projekt Red over the past few years.
”We’re excited to announce Shadowrun: Dragonfall - Director’s Cut,” reads a new blog post from the team. ”Inspired by other passionate, community-focused developers like CD Projekt RED (who continued to improve and add to their Witcher titles post-launch), we decided to make an even bigger & better Dragonfall for you guys. The Shadowrun team has been hard at work taking the existing Dragonfall campaign and making it even better - adding new features, missions, art, and more.”
Dragonfall featured a much improved main campaign with some neat characters and smart, sharp dialogue. If you’ve never played it before this new and improved version seems a good place to start.
”What’s more, as a continued “thank you” for your support, the Director’s Cut will be FREE to all Backers and to all owners of the expansion version of Dragonfall. If you’ve played Dragonfall already, this should be a great opportunity to return to the streets of Berlin and enjoy the improved campaign all over again.”
Harebrained Schemes promise more information on the Dragonfall Director’s Cut in August. It’s set for a release sometime in September this year.
