Top-down gore-fest Hotline Miami returns before the end of September this year with its sequel, Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number, which serves as the ”grand finale” for the series. Neon and carnage await.
”You’re a murderer,” says indie Dennaton Games, and we’ll have ”hundreds of new sprites and animations” in all-new lush environments with new weapons to ”satisfy your murder lust.”
We take the role of several different characters with their stories intersecting throughout. The sequel has already stirred controversy with a ‘depiction of rape’ now removed.
”You’re a murderer,” Dennaton described. ”You murder people. Again. And again. How certain you are of your actions and what is, and what is not, real is what you must determine in Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number.” Co-creator Dennis Wedin is unsure whether the ‘context-sensitive rape scene’ will appear or not.
”Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number commands you to step into the murderous minds of several distinct characters - each with their own motivations and methods of execution - as storylines intersect and reality slips away into a haze of neon and carnage,” they continued. ”Witness hundreds of new sprites and animations in lush new areas to clear floor-by-floor, and harness a variety of savage new weapons to satisfy your murder lust.”
Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number releases on PC, Mac, Linux, PS4 and Vita in Q3 2014.
