There have been rumours flying around for some time that EA Sports will be getting rid of the Ultimate Team transfer market, supposedly in order to stop coin-sellers and earn more money from direct sales of player card packs.
A video from Youtuber AJ3Fifa explains why this is unlikely, and digs up a comment from EA community manager Robb Hodson back in June that confirms there will be a transfer market and (working) web app in FIFA 15.
AJ2Fifa’s point is a simple one; EA makes so, so much cash from card pack sales currently that messing with the formula would seem very unwise. The tonnes of pack-opening videos online (these videos get hundreds of thousands, even millions of views for some utterly baffling reason) also essentially operate as free advertising for their game.
If you want official confirmation however, community manager Hodson confirmed the following in a forum thread on the EA forums; “There will be a web-app and a market”. That’s that, then.
FIFA 15 is coming to PC and consoles this September.
