As expected, DICE and EA are planning to release Star Wars: Battlefront just in time to ride the wave of hysteria generated by the next Star Wars film.
A tweet from EA confirmed that Battlefront will release "for Holiday 2015", meaning it will drop at around the same time that Star Wars: Episode VII hits cinemas next December.
Battlefront will basically be a Star Wars-flavoured version of developer DICE's military shooter Battlefield 4, with ATAT walkers and blaster rifles replacing tanks and AK-47s. You know what? That sounds fine by me, as long as DICE manage to clear up some of their traditional launch issues this time around.
EA will be the guys with the Star Wars license for the foreseeable future, after signing a deal with Disney last year. Aside from Battlefront, Visceral Games are also working on a title in the franchise, with Uncharted writer Amy Hennig on story duty. Exciting times for Star Wars fans.
