Developer Treyarch is teasing some sort of zombie-flavoured announcement for this Wednesday’s DICE summit. Yes, the undead are making another appearance. Shocking, I know.
It’s the Black Ops and World at War developer’s turn with the Call of Duty franchise this year – could we see a full zombie-themed campaign for the first time in the series?
“Countdown to Zero Hour. Stay tuned for livestream info regarding Wednesday’s presentation. #DICE #Zombies,” reads the developer’s Twitter account. Treyarch was of curse the originator of the eternally popular Zombies co-op mode back in 2008’s Call of Duty: World at War. Nearly every CoD game since them has had a similiar mode in one form or another, and fans just don’t seem to get tired of them. A full zombie spin-off makes a certain amount of sense.
It’s still pretty early for a new Call of Duty game to be announced. Usually the inevitable announcement comes around early Summer time, but that doesn’t rule out the possibility. We could also be looking at some kind of new spin-off, rather than a full entry.
Whatever the case, we’ll find out at the DICE Summit on Wednesday. The gathering runs for several days, and brings various games industry figures together to discuss video game production and design.
