Paragon is a mysterious project from the folks behind the Gears of War series, Epic Games. They’ve been revealing a new hero once a week or so, and now we’ve arrived at the fifth reveal on the official website, Grux.
Grux is an incredibly savage and brutish looking alien monster with tribal markings all over parts of its body and a wicked looking club of some kind. Once you’ve signed up for Paragon’s beta, you can start revealing characters and picking what appears to be different ability unlocks that will be offered for the characters in the game. Grux’s unlocks seem to fit its savage looks, appearing to be centered on getting down and dirty mauling enemies. It can get mana or health from kills, get several buffs from being hit, or get buffs from inflicting a certain status effect.
A couple of Grux’s unlocks seem focused towards bleeding targets. There’s a defensive buff that bleeds enemies if Grux is hit and an offensive buff activated when Grux causes bleeding. By these clues it seems the creature is going to be a ravenous DPS machine or a berserking tank that maintains high health or defense through combat. Whatever the case, it seems Grux will definitely be tuned towards close engagements.
Grux was the last of five reveals that have been shown on the website, the other four of which were Twinblast, Steel, Sparrow, and Dekker. It is unclear whether more characters will be revealed, but the site promises more information sometime in December 2015. Stay tuned.
Whatever Paragon is, it’s shaping up to have quite a cast of characters with customizable combat options and is slated for a release sometime in early 2016.
