Oh, baby. The general public got its first chance to see Dark Souls 3 in action at Gamescom 2015 today, during the Microsoft Xbox One press conference. Don’t worry PC fans; the game’s not a console exclusive, it’ll be winging its way to Windows simultaneously next year.
Judging from the snippets of gameplay, Hidetaka Miyazaki, who returns to the series after missing out on Dark Souls 2, has learned some lesson from his Gothic PS4 hit Bloodborne. The combat looks faster than before, more visceral and aggressive.
And, of course, it looks absolutely beautiful. There are few games out there that can match a Dark Souls boss fight in terms of sheer visual splendour, and DS3’s rogues gallery looks bigger and meaner than ever before. I genuinely can’t wait to get stuck into them.
Dark Souls 3 is set for release on all platforms in early 2016.
