At this point we’ve seen the same mission from Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain played out about a hundred times (not that I’m bored of watching it yet), so it’s not surprising that Konami has opted for something a little more cinematic for Gamescom.
Alongside the usual blend of gunplay, gadgets and stealth, this new trailer introduces a more varied range of weather effects, climates and time of day settings than we’ve seen before.
It also teases a couple of Hideo Kojima’s trademark weird boss characters, including a creepy floating thing that looks a bit like Psycho Mantis, and what looks like a big flaming demon guy. Don’t know what that’s about, but I can’t wait to find out.
Not too much longer to wait. Konami recently pushed forward the game’s release date to September 1, while also delaying the multiplayer component until early next year.
