Right, so insurance is one of those things that nobody actually likes paying for, isn't it? It's basically something you're periodically forced into doing by boring, stupid adult life, like filling in tax returns or pretending to enjoy wine.
You certainly wouldn't think "boy, this videogame's fun, but it would be even better if I could pay to insure all the items I own." That is, however, exactly what you can now do in Metal Gear Solid 5.

The FOB insurance service is introduced in a new, heavily FOB focused update that's dropped for the stealth action game today. Konami doesn't give an exact cost for the service - which automatically replaces any gear or soldiers stolen during a successful base invasion by another play - but you have to pay using the in-game MB coin currency.
Fortunately, the update does come with some cool stuff too. There are now a greater number of online Combat Deployment missions to send your soldiers out on, with better rewards. New Grade 7 weapons have been added, and you can equip your security team with night-vision goggles. The UI's been improved, resource and GMP caps have been increased, and there are new Event FOB missions to embark on that don't carry any risk of reprisal if you successfully steal your opponent's goods.
A mixed bag of microtransaction nonsense and some actual, useful stuff then. The update should go live later today.
