Martial arts MMORPG Age of Wulin is getting a new expansion this June, adding a new player battleground, the Flower Prince competition, a Partner System that lets you summon your friends in battle, and a new instance called the Island of Delight.
Chapter 6: Blood & Flowers will assign players a random faction - Snow Mountain Sanctuary, Valley of Frozen Souls, or Blood Sabre Clan - and then task them with defending Lingxiao City from some unfriendly invaders. As for the Flower Prince competition:
”The Shifting Flower Palace is one of the most secretive Factions, versed in the martial arts with ruthless warrior maidens, seeking revenge against the men who wronged them until now,” explains developer WEBZEN. ”Once a month, the Shifting Flower Palace will open the doors of this restricted Faction to male characters for the supreme title of Flower Prince, but not without setting conditions. The top ranked players in several categories, if they accept the invitation, will be bidding and fighting to become the new Prince of the Palace. Access to the Shifting Flower Palace and the title won’t be the only rewards, as the Flower Prince will receive also the Ancient Skill Set of this Faction to cultivate and a special outfit to parade in.”
There’s more information of the new Partner System here. It’s rather convoluted, but the gist of it is that you can recruit your friends’ characters to come fight for you while they’re offline, earning special Red Beans that you can then spend on unique costumes, abilities and more.
The Island of Delight instance, meanwhile, follows on the storyline from previous game updates, and sets players up against the ‘Hell King’ and his illicit activities on the titular island. Chapter 6: Blood & Flowers drops this June 16.
