Bethesda has announced that their subscriptionless MMO, The Elder Scrolls Online, will be free to play for an extended weekend, from December 10th through 14th. In order to enjoy the offer, players must get a key for the game from various websites, which the developer helpfully listed here.
From there, the instructions for PC players are thus:
- Create a game account at https://account.elderscrollsonline.com.
- Activate your account by clicking the link in the activation email sent to you.
- Return to https://account.elderscrollsonline.com and sign in with your new account.
- On your account page, click “Redeem Code." Enter your code in the popup box that appears.
- Once your code has been successfully redeemed, a download link will appear on your account page. Download the game and you'll be ready to play!
During this period, the game is also enjoying a 60% discount, while the in-game scrip, “crowns”, are also 25% to 40% off as well.
The Elder Scrolls Online was released back in April 2014, and earned an 8.0/10 score from our review. Xbox One owners have a similar deal for this upcoming weekend. PlayStation 4 users are promised a deal in the near future.
