Towerfall Ascension is a crazily addictive multiplayer archery game, in which four players hurl themselves around a tower, slinging arrows at each other and destroying everything in sight.
It’s loads of fun. And it’s about to get even more hectic with developer Matt Thorson’s announcement that expansion Dark World is on the way this week.
Dropping May 12, Dark World adds a new co-op campaign for 1-4 players, a random, procedurally generated Cataclysm mode in which levels shift around each time you play, and a host of new playable archers, powerups and levels.
On display in the trailer above we see proximity mine-esque ‘trigger arrows’, giant eyeball bosses, pools of acid, and a bunch of other colourful pixel loveliness that makes my trigger finger itch. If you haven’t tried Towerfall yet, and you’ve got a few friends who like madcap party games that hearken back to the arcade era, I urge you to do so.
Dark World will be available for $9.99 on Steam, the Humble Store, and GOG.com.
