EVE Online has received a new update called Proteus, which is packed with new features and tweaks including redesigned ship classes and improved graphical effects.
For you jet-setting explorer types developer CCP has added a bunch of secret zones across the galaxy, each of which offers rare rewards if you manage to navigate its many traps and hazards.
In the video above developer CCP Rise (I don’t think that’s his real name…) talks us through the major changes. The Recon class of ships, for example, has been reworked, and now offer immunity to detection by Directional Scanners for Combat Recons.
Asteroid fields have been given a bit of a visual makeover, for a “more visceral look and feel.” Mining has been made slightly easier for newbies with the introduction of new mining locations in starter and career agent solar systems. “The rocks remaining in these locations are too small for optimal mining by experienced players in Mining Barges,” explains CCP, “but newer players in Rookie Ships and Ventures will never have to search far from home to find some asteroids to mine.”
You can check out more detailed information on the new content on the EVE Online website. Proteus is out now, and should start downloading when you log in to your game client.
