Blizzard has released an eight minute gameplay video of its team-based shooter/MOBA Overwatch, showcasing the particular skills of Nepalese cyborg monk Zenyatta.
A support character, Zenyatta can use his prayer beads to bludgeon other players unconscious at range, or as healing orbs if he’s feeling more charitable. His ultimate ability has him enter a state of “heightened existence”, becoming invulnerable to damage and healing his allies, at the cost of being able to attack or use his own skills.
This is the first thing we’ve seen regarding Overwatch in a while, which might have something to do with a legal skirmish over the use of that title. Blizzard’s game features two teams of international superpowers kicking lumps out of each other, and features various different playable character with unique weapons and skills.
There’s definitely a MOBA feel to the whole thing, though Blizzard is keen to point out that at its heart the game is a shooter. You can still sign up for an upcoming beta over on Battle.net, though we still don’t know exactly when it will start.
