Publisher Topware Games has unveiled developer Reality Pump's new swashbuckling action-adventure game, Vendetta: Curse of Raven's Cry, where players will "step into the boots of the vicious pirate Christopher Raven and get revenge on the men who killed your family and took your hand."
The game takes place in the Caribbean of the 1700's, where pirates infested the local waters. Players will enjoy an open world to explore complete with free-sailing and land exploration. Combat is similarly free-flowing, and players will be leveling their character to fit their preferred combat style, complete with "with combos, slow-motion effects, finishing moves and a large arsenal of melee and ranged weapons." And yes, since protagonist Christopher Raven lost a hand, not only will he fight with a sword but he'll have a hook hand for combat, too.
Another gameplay mechanic will be a notoriety system, which will affect how different groups react to the player. A realistic economy includes merchants and trading posts, as well as ship upgrades that include retrofitting the ship's hull for extra provisions and increased defense, multiple types of repairs, upgradeable cannons, sails and so on.
