Wuxia-inspired adventure Phantom Blade Zero, developed by Chinese studio S-GAME, is one of the most anticipated pure action releases of the year, and it’s finally almost ready to go. Here we’ve collected what we know about it, from the definitive release date to gameplay details to trailers.
Phantom Blade Zero Release Date
After a very long wait and one extra delay, it seems S-GAME has locked Phantom Blade Zero’s fall 2026 launch.
- Phantom Blade Zero release date: October 29, 2026
Phantom Blade Zero Gameplay
Phantom Blade Zero features “over 30 weapons” and more than 20 “Phantom Edges” (secondary weapons) that can be mixed and matched with unique movesets, skills, and ultimate abilities
“Inspired by the Golden Age of Hong Kong action films, the world of Phantom Blade Zero blends fierce martial arts with machinery, amplifying an exhilarating clash of steel on steel.” S-GAME is describing the game’s signature combat style as Kungfupunk, and it’s powered by cutting-edge motion capture and, to the surprise of no one, Unreal Engine 5.
Expect more details on the mechanics and systems (not just the protagonist’s) as the game’s release approaches. While we’ve already seen a lot of Phantom Blade Zero in motion, the developers are clearly saving a lot of surprises. By the way, this is a strictly single-player action game.
Phantom Blade Zero Story
Phantom Blade Zero’s plot is being largely kept under wraps, but we know it follows Soul, a warrior “framed for the death of his master and left with a ruined heart.” He’s got 66 days to live and is hunted by his former comrades as “he moves through a world of shifting loyalties and silent blades, determined to unravel the conspiracy that has condemned him.”
The game’s official description also describes the world of Phantom Blade Zero as a mix of Wuxia storytelling, fantasy, and haunting folk horror. “Shifting realities, echoes of memories long since passed, augmentation, and beings of higher power await.” Mysteries will also be at the centre of the experience even when players step outside the main path.
Phantom Blade Zero Platforms and Pre-Orders
Phantom Blade Zero pre-order details and different editions haven’t been revealed just yet, but with an October launch now set, expect news on that front sooner rather than later.
We can confirm Phantom Blade Zero will slash into PC (Steam, Epic Games) and PS5 when it launches. No Xbox Series X/S version has been announced at the time of writing, since the developers apparently aren’t fond of the platform.
