Realmforge Studios' evil overlords simulator Dungeons 2 finally has a release date - you'll be able to commence building your ideal subterranean death fortress on April 24.
Sequel to the rather lukewarmly received 2011 game, Dungeons 2 aims to spice things up with more lively and colourful dungeon management, and the addition of a concurrent RTS mode on the surface map.
When I spoke to art director Viktor Linke last year, he admitted that the first Dungeons game wasn't quite what it could have been. It leaned a little closer to tower defence mechanics than the fans wanted, and didn't get the pacing quite right.
"(In Dungeons) They built their dungeon, they built their defences, Linke explained, "then they just waited for things to unfold. A lot of players companied about that, so we added the concept of the overworld (in Dungeons 2). So you have to think about those two layers, keep switching between them, and you always have something to do."
Plus, there's a brand new selection of unpleasant devices to funnel your enemies towards, and a bunch of new dungeon rooms and minions to experiment with.
