Once again, Hideo Kojima's status at Konami remains murky, as the publisher insists that Metal Gear Solid's creator is still employed there, refuting aby The New Yorker that Kojima had been officially laid off.
According to an interview with Konami by Japanese news site, Kojima is instead on a "long vacation", hinting that the party he and other co-workers held was a wrap party, not a farewell party.
The Konami rep went on to explain that after a massive project like Metal Gear Solid V; The Phantom Pain, Kojima was fatigued, needed a break, and that it's normal for studio leads to take a hiatus from game development after big projects.
Konami did admit earlier in the year that it had dismantled Kojima Productions, however, so we'll see if this vacation is a long one or a permanent one. Stay tuned.
