Monster Boy And The Cursed Kingdom is a plucky and colorful looking action platformer that serves as the spiritual successor to the old franchise Wonder Boy, which was popular in arcades and on Sega systems in the late ’80s and early ’90s. Now we get to have a look at the vibrant world FDG Entertainment is rebuilding in their new adventure.
The trailer released on FDG’s Youtube channel features a fantastic and colorful spectacle that looks like it will be delightful to play. It appears to have Metroidvania-esque qualities, as well as NPC townsfolk to engage with in order to take on quests, find out information, and buy and sell equipment for the journey ahead.
One of the highlights of the trailer is the numerous amount of forms that player can take on to tackle a wide variety of situations. We saw a snake with a wall crawl, lion with the ability to break through certain areas, pig with the ability to sniff out secrets, and frog with a tongue whip and the ability to craft ice bridges. Already, these allow for a great deal of puzzles and variety of playstyle, some of which was on display.
Monster Boy doesn’t have a release date yet, but is expected to come out in 2016. You can find out more on the official website for the game.
