Underworld Ascendant, industry veteran Paul Neurath’s return to the first-person dungeon-crawler genre that made his name, has been Greenlit on Steam.
That means should the game reach a $600,000 goal through its Kickstarter campaign, it can be sold via Valve’s retail platform. Developer OtherSide has currently raised just over $517,000 with ten days left to go.
OtherSide is a new studio founded by Neurath, and filled with ex-Looking Glass staffers (the team behind Thief, System Shock and several other classics). Joining them is voice actor Stephen L. Russell, best known for his portrayal of Thief protagonist Garrett.
Recently the team;s been discussing its so-called Improvisation Engine, which is described as “a set of fairly complex interactions and dynamics” that take place when the player interacts with the game world. It’s basically a fancy term for Skyrim-style open world shenanigans, but you can find out more about it in the video above.
