A new tactical RPG is in the works with German developer King Art Games as they announce The Dwarves, which is based on the novel of the same name from author Markus Heitz.
They talk of a ‘Crowd-Combat System’ where enemy orcs have a ”flocking behavior” and are bound by physics. Whacking orcs can send them sprawling into each other, and even topple them over ledges.
Battles will be dangerous affairs as up to a hundred enemies can surround the Dwarves and their allies. The main character is a human-raised dwarf named Tungdil, and he’ll build up a party of 12 over the course of the game, but only 4 can accompany him in battles.
”You travel through “Girdlegard” on a world map that contains dozens of battle fields and places waiting to be discovered,” reads the official website. ”The story background of the game is based on the first book of the novel series “The Dwarves”, but also offers numerous new quests and characters.” These new characters are approved by Markus Heitz.
A teaser trailer has been released for The Dwarves, which is an isometric tactical RPG. It will be on show at Gamescom next month in Cologne, Germany with a full release in 2016.
