Remember Assassin’s Creed 3’s weird crafting system? Where you could spend your time knocking together oak cabinets and tables for no discernable reason whatsoever?
Well the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Syndicate also has a crafting and customisation mechanic, but this time Ubisoft promises it will be full of actually useful items, like Assassin tools, gang upgrades and new costumes. The studio covers the new mechanics in a post over on the Ubiblog.
”In Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, you will be able to select your weapons (cane sword, brass knuckles and kukri blade), your Assassin Gauntlet, your outfits, and the color of your gear. On top of those options, Jacob will be able to choose from a variety of belts that will give him defense and stealth bonuses, while Evie has a selection of capes,” the team writes.
The same blog post also covers main characters Evie and Jacob’s unique skills, which are separated into three categories; Stealth, Combat and Ecosystem. Both can head down the same trees, but Jacon can progress further in combat skills, and Evie in stealth.
Fairly standard stuff, but I’m a sucker for progression sub-systems, so I’m happy with that. Fingers crossed that Syndicate can recover from the disaster that was Unity when it launches this October 23.
