I don’t know about you, but my impression of the new Battlefront had it squarely in “flash in the pan” territory--a beautiful game, fun for a time, but without enough content to keep them coming back, players soon left for other games. Not so, says EA! In fact, they say the game is still vibrant, with a player count in seven-digit numbers. As part of a recent report to investors, the company said more than 6.6 million people had played Battlefront during the three-month period making up EA’s first financial quarter. 11.5 million played Battlefield--that’s across all Battlefield titles, mind you--in the same time period. So Star Wars is slightly behind the flagship shooter franchise, but still doing very respectably. From the stars to the real-world battlefields, we've got it all on our list of best shooters on PC! As Eurogamer notes, a couple of stat-tracking websites share a similar story. As I’m writing this, SWBstats shows 28,544 players currently playing Battlefront, and BF4stats shows 92,679 for Battlefield 4. Extrapolate those numbers over a few months, and you’ve got an impressive player count across multiple shooter titles. That’s certainly good news for EA, with a new Battlefield releasing this year and a new Battlefront likely to follow soon after. Both franchises are popular as ever, it seems. The World War I-themed Battlefield 1 will release on October 21. |
