Steam user Elimina has painstakingly recreated the entire first level of Mirror’s Edge in Dying Light, which makes a lot of sense, since both games heavily rely on parkour, though replacing trigger-happy security with flesh devouring zombies.
While the modder states that the map is still in pre-alpha, it still looks gorgeous as a 1:1 scale of the classic opening to Mirror’s Edge. ”So far, this map is made up of 108 screenshots from mirrors edge to get the scale and spacing of objects exactly a it would be in Mirror’s Edge,” explained Elimina. ”I only have the map ‘completed’ up to the end of the Interior section, but I plan to add even more detail that is missing, get the buildings that are outside of the map completed, and add sound effects to make it feel like a real city “
Elimina listed the tasks that needed to be finished on the map, including finishing the main buildings, adding fake global illumination, adding police NPCs, adding more detail in the interior of buildings, adding sounds and music, and most important of all: wall runs, which are a staple of Mirror’s Edge.
The modder is also working to meld another game, in this case Assassin’s Creed II, to Dying Light. The mod recreates Ezio’s home estate of Monteriggioni. That pre-alpha mod can be checked out here.
