Maybe it was a game that defined your high-school life, or maybe you only picked it up a little later. Runescape was a fully-fledged MMO running in everyone's standard-issue internet browser that seemed unprecedented at the time. It's still around, and it's becoming a little like an eSport later this month.
Popping up earlier this year came the game's now-famous Deadman mode. Pitting the entire server's players against each other, Deadman Mode enables open-world PvP rather than limiting it to the confines of the wilderness area. While towns are protected with high-level guards, the outside world becomes a treacherous place as anyone and everyone will have the option to ambush you in greed.
Heading into Deadman mode, everyone starts off fresh. Experience point gains are increased five-fold, though dying to another player will - depending on your 'skull' state - will result in heavy EXP losses and a bank raid swiping a massive amount of your items.
Even if old-school Runescape isn't your thing anymore, maybe its card game will interest you!
The aim here is to last as long as possible and grow as strong as you can. In the final hours of the Deadman Invitational, toxins will begin to seep into the Runescape world forcing the remaining players to congregate into a single town. With time running out, one last brawl will break out until just one player remains to walk away with $10,000.
It'll take place as ESL UK Studio 1 with plenty of other events to keep people entertained. December 17 is the date, and there will be plenty of low-poly bloodshed.
