We’ve been speculating endlessly about what new races the Total War: Warhammer DLC would bring, and now we’ve finally got an answer. The first new faction will be the Beastmen, a Chaos-tainted horde of minotaurs and other hybrids between man and animal, letting you spread like a plague over the old world.
The Beastmen are a horde race, meaning that they’ve no need of settlements to upgrade and recruit new units. Their roster is made up of an impressive array of infantry and monstrous units, with mages wielding the dangerous Lore of the Wild. They can use the wild Beastpaths to outmanoeuvre their enemies and, calling upon the Chaos Moon, they’ll commit twisted acts of faith in exchange for favor on the battlefield. They’ll be available in the grand campaign, custom and multiplayer battles, and a new custom story campaign called An Eye for an Eye.
Looks like one of our predictions was right! Check out our editorial on Total War: Warhammer DLC, and what we want to see next!
Along with the new race pack, a free update will add some extra options for Empire players. The rarely-seen Amber Wizards will lend their might on the battlefield, using the deadly Lore of Beasts to work wonders like toughening their allies’ skin or summoning manticores to wreak havoc on the battlefield.
The Call of the Beastmen campaign pack will be available on July 28, and you can pre-order it now on Steam.
