Gearbox announced today a “TV-style approach” for its next big shooter, Battleborn, as well as confirming a date for the open beta.
They’re calling the story mode episodic, but all those episodes seem to be in the game on day one. There will be eight stand-alone chapters covering the adventures of our heroes as they attempt to save Solus, the last star. Players will earn unlocks by playing through each episode. Based on the previously announced DLC plans, it seems that we can expect five additional paid episodes post-launch.
You’ll be able to see the first two episodes, as well as two multiplayer modes and all 25 heroes, in the game’s open beta, which launches April 8 on PS4 and April 13 on PC and Xbox One.
Battleborn will release across all platforms May 3.
