Last month, Harmonix took to the new crowdfunding platform Fig seeking the money to bring Rock Band 4 to PC. Now they’ve offered a brand new option for potential backers!
That new option is $2,500 package that gets you every bit of DLC to be released for the game. That’s over 1,700 songs for far less than the $2 each you would normally pay! What a deal, right?
Yeah, no, I’m not buying, either. Harmonix’s position these days doesn’t look great with the tepid response to both Amplitude and last year’s console release of Rock Band 4, and their increasing reliance on crowdfunding money doesn’t look great for the one-time king of music games.
You might also say the same for Fig itself! Psychonauts 2 was obviously a massive success, but the service’s first original title, Outer Wilds, only barely made its funding goal, 5th Cell’s Anchors in the Drift failed miserably, and that new Jay and Silent Bob game might squeak by with the funding necessary, but it doesn’t exactly look to be a marquee title. And with 11 days to go and a million dollars left to raise, things don’t look great for the Rock Band PC campaign.
Perhaps just a run of bad luck, but Fig’s dream team of advisors isn’t exactly churning out the hits.
