With Rocket League basically having cemented itself as a pop-culture icon since its debut back in 2015, you might like to hear that we've bordering its second anniversary. And yearly celebrations are a must.
While we're still a month away from the July 5 celebrations, we're being given the skinny on the next major patch that will arrive on the same day. Alongside news that Season 5 will officially kick off of Rocket League's nameday.
Though it's barely seemed long since the last Champions Crate set was released, it's time to hype up the next - Overdrive Crates are on their way. Inside these new money-sink cosmetic cubes. Wheel tracks and engine sounds will become part of the customisation options offered to players through the roulette-spin of a loot box with two new cars being hidden within, too. So if you're hoping for that new Animus GP and Centio V17, you know where to find them.
Of course, Rocket League's 'Champions Field' update isn't just out to grab more of your cash to celebrate two years of the combat-ready flying cars. The free update will offer more of what we now expect from past updates - like the new Champions Field map. But there's a few other goodies being thrown in that aren't part of typical patch content. Once July 5 rolls around, you can expect to be able to chose from new goal animations and 18 new music tracks by Monstercat.
We might not be in the golden days of Reddit and Twitter being showered by impressive plays and last night's ludicrous displays, but Rocket League is still very much alive and purring.
