There's no shortage of developers looking to capitalize on the ever-growing MOBA scene. Some climb high while others falter down below, but a game suddenly increasing its overall speed to better compete isn't totally unheard of either. And that's what's happening with today's Fractured Space - Phase 3 update.
Offered a free update alongside a concurrent Steam promotion, Fractured Space - Phase 3 is a large wrapper update containing Conquest 2.0 - an update to the exiting Conquest map that encourages a faster playthrough.
Being a space combat title with a heavy emphasis on MOBA-style elements, the way Edge Case Games have gone about increasing the action of a game already designed to deliver it in otherworldly droves means increasing the ways in which teams can disrupt the growth of another - through destructible drones - a tighter traditional 'laning' phase and more rapid player respawn rates keeping action flowing at a more consistent rate.
It Won't Reflect Today's Update, But Chris Handled Our Fractured Space Review Late Last Year
Alongside their efforts to increase confrontation rates with quicker spawning times, Edge Case Games have incorporated a slew of handy tutorials designed to better facilitate newcomers into an otherwise overwhelming game of space rockets. Handled through audio tips dished out by Base Command in-game, they should prove helpful throughout a match meaning newcomers should be able to aid their veteran teammates without holding them back too much in their early attempts.
Though the group has issued a trailer alongside the new update, it does little to demonstrate just how drastic the changes could be in practice - especially for those not currently involved in the game. Still, it's worth a look for those interested in a space-bound MOBA.
