In this latest trailer for The Surge, Focus Home Interactive’s action RPG set in a dark science-fiction world, we’re shown how you can target enemies for brutal take-downs, loot items and then equip them for your advantage.
The Surge has quite a unique feature when it comes to loot, because the game allows you to target specific body parts, which you can then damage with a combination of vertical and horizontal attacks that results in dismemberment - and what parts you recover from the chopped limbs determines what piece of equipment you’ll get.
The developers tell us that “when approaching an enemy, players will make a difficult decision: do they target an unarmored body part for a shorter fight, or risk a lengthier, damaging battle for a chance at slicing off a shiny new piece of equipment? Balancing risk and reward is core to succeeding in The Surge, and bold players will be rewarded well!”
Focus Home Interactive are set to launch The Surge on 16th May, and pre-orders are now open for the PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Back in March last year we had the chance to catch up with Deck 13’s Creative Director Jan Klose in Paris to talk about The Surge, you can find out what we learned here. Before you do that though, check out how those limbs fly in the trailer below:
