There's a game on Steam with a bunch of user-submitted genre tags painting a picture of an indie turn-based strategy RPG adventure. It's called Renowned Explorers. It came out in 2015 and it's getting a new expansion in the next few weeks. Though the product page itself would describe Renowned Explorers as a strategic rogue-like, the community has said otherwise. Announced through a singular, long mini-comic (that's surely an oxymoron), they've name-dropped the additional content as 'The Emperor's Challenge'. Why? Well, because the comic strip focuses on Hojo Fumiaki, the expansion's new Renowned Explorer! Shardbound Brings Fantasy-Style CCG And Strategy Combat To Steam Early Access For Free Hojo is billed as a 'brilliant Japanese scout, who channels his build-up anger into exploring and cleaning'. We're not sure how those two go together, but it's a rather unique personality trait nonetheless. There's no solid release date or detailed information just yet - but it's coming. For those already eager to give it a shot, there's a Closed Beta available with sign-ups situated over here. It's suggested the full version will launch a few weeks after the beta concludes. |
