Let's say there's a game called 'Don't Knock Twice'. What's the first thing you do? Knock twice, of course. It's the same as those Bloody Mary tales you'd hear being passed around the schoolyard; and that's what this interesting little VR horror title wants you to do.
Don't Knock Twice is a play on your conscience and judgement from the get-go. We can imagine the first thing you're required to do is 'knock twice', and you're likely not going to get far into the game if you don't.
Once you do, however; expect something to happen. While those urban tales were 100% fake - unless Shelley decided to play a very elaborate prank - Don't Knock Twice will gladly open its doors to you. From the angle of this new trailer, we're looking a pure horror simulator. Dark corridors, moody rooms and everyone's favorite bathtub full of black sludge - it's all there.

What we don't see, however, is what we're meant to fear. Not directly, at least. There's a lot of objects doing strange things, and the odd apparition off in your peripheries, but beside the obvious dark arms conveniently out of reach, we don't know whether we're fighting back here or just looking for a way out.
Due to release September 5, Don't Knock Twice isn't even bound to a VR headset. It';s available for all three major HMDs, but can be played without one just fine.
