With Yooka-Layle finally out in the open, Team17 need to bolster its publishing efforts once more. Yoku's Island Express joins the ranks!
Welcoming a Swedish developer into the House of Worms, Team17 have lapped up Villa Gorilla and their newest game - explained as a "pretty pinball platformer".
It's a genre combination that raises more questions than it answers and certainly not something I've personally come across before. Yoku's Island Express stars a Dung Beetle as the titular hero. Clearly Team17 can't keep away from using animals and insects on the front of their proverbial catalogue. Landing on Mokumana Island, Yoku only arrived to take up the title of Postmaster. Delivering the goods in a tropical utopia? Sounds like a sweet gig if you're packing appropriate clothing.

But, like any good secluded island, something is amiss. Natural disasters plague the land - storms and quakes shake it day after day. The reason? A slumbering deity in need of a wake-up call. To save the floating rock and its quirky characters, Yoku has to travrse its plains by means of some wacky pinball-like mechanics to set things straight.
With a solid AAA background behind them, Jens Andersson and Mattias Snygg (of Starbreeze) are the creative minds behind this particularly colourful adventure. It isn't due until next year at the earliest, but there's still a trailer to get the roach rolling.
