We don't know why Valve seems to like Thursdays as much as they do; but that mid-week adoration continues this week for their annual - and almost legendary - Steam Summer Sale. Though Steam typically likes to surprise us with the facts (though they're generally mined from a database beforehand) the news slipped out from Paypal yet again who've built up a history of leaking the big day in the past with their hasty promotional campaigns.
PC Gamer brought the news into the limelight while reminding us that Paypal let the Winter Sale slip last year, too. They do, however, raise a point - the date slipped last year when Reddit got hold of a screenshot from the Steam Developers group that pointed toward the June 22 launch. With last year's event taking place on June 23, it was a strong indication... and a Thursday. It’s official. The #SteamSummerSale starts 22/06 at 6pm BST and PayPal customers get an extra £5 off *terms apply. https://t.co/PdXnlKZ6qh pic.twitter.com/hobxCz3TBm

The Steam Summer Sale Is A Great Time To Grab Some Indie Classics For Next To Nothing
A Valve community rep went on record to confirm this year's start date following the Paypal tweet that also dropped the exact time - 6pm BST (another staple of Steam's update policy). There's no mention of an end date, but we usually expect Steam's big sales to go on for around 2 weeks. And according to Paypal, its users are eligable for a further £5 reduction on purchases made through Steam during the sale. Considering how cheap games typically get on Valve's marketplace during a sale, another £5 off could turn even the most recent AAA releases into pocket change.
