Not a day goes by that Paradox Interactive have nothing to show of their tightening grip on the industry. Hearts of Iron IV is getting another new expansion later this year.
Likely at least withholding the more intricate details of release for its PDXCON event next month, Hearts of Iron IV: Death or Dishonor will arrive with a $10 price tag. A free update for the current game will arrive alongside it.
Dubbed as a 'country pack', the Death or Dishonor expansion plans to bring some increasingly difficult decision-making into the Hearts of Iron fold. Certain countries will be pushed to the brink and forced to either side with an unruly potential ally or be crushed under the weight of a stronger force, it's a game of mind-tricks as much as ever; and one that somehow rings true to the western world's current tensions.
But this isn't meant to represent current affairs. It's back to the mid-90's for this one with the powers of the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany playing a major role in its events. Introducing new 'National Focus' trees for Romania, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, and Yugoslavia they'll have to carefully navigate the delicate balance of power present during World War II. It's a full-scale offensive for Paradox's plans to represent every nation present during one of the bloodiest wars in history.
The coinciding free update will bring revamped aerial gameplay, new map designs and artwork, 'equipment conversion' and three bonus musical tracks amongst a few other tweaks and changes. Hopefully we'll hear more in the coming weeks.
