If you’re looking for rusted gears in ARC Raiders in order to upgrade your Gunsmith to its highest level, our quick guide will help you find the hottest loot spots.
We aren’t surprised raiders are looking all over the place for this type of crafting material, as the Gunsmith’s top tier upgrade is needed to create some of the best weapons in the game at the time of writing. Like mushrooms and pillows, they’re also oddly elusive despite all the machinery lying around across the game’s locations.
Though you could just keep playing and scavenging aimlessly in hopes of getting lucky, we have some pointers that should make your search way easier.
Where to find rusted gears in ARC Raiders
Rusted gears are generally available in industrial areas and zones filled with heavy machinery, but we and many players have been lucky targeting the specific areas marked on the screenshot above. They’re part of the Buried City map, and you should expect to encounter other raiders there, as many of them will no doubt be looking for rusted gears too.
As for the machines you need to look out for, rusted gears are often found inside generators and cars. Of course, the drop rates might screw you over repeatedly, which is why the Marano Station, Parking Garage, and Warehouse spots are our top picks at the moment; they’re full of cars and generators to go through in a single run, which greatly helps our chances of finding the materials.
If you’d like to try out a second set of hot spots, we’ve also had some luck in the Blue Gate map by looting cars and trucks stationed across the Checkpoint and Underpass zones, but expect even bigger groups of raiders flocking to them, as it’s a high-level area.
