It’s been 10 years since XCOM 2 graced us with its almighty presence, so it’s only fair that the series gets some hefty discounts to celebrate the sci-fi strategy goliath.
Firaxis’ revival of Julian Gollop’s iconic squad-based tactical strategy series X-COM began in 2012 with XCOM Enemy Unknown, but XCOM 2 evolved the series in exciting new ways, especially when its staggeringly extensive expansion War of the Chosen arrived.
It takes a special game to get me to play over a thousand hours, and XCOM 2 has achieved that across PS4, Xbox, and PC. Hell, I even managed a run on Nintendo Switch! It’s been an obsession over the last decade, and I’m far from alone in feeling that.
XCOM 2 Celebrates 10 Years of Alien-Smashing Resistance
To celebrate XCOM 2’s 10th anniversary, you can buy the game on Steam for a whopping 95% off until February 19, 2026. That makes it just £1.74 for the base game.
But say you want a bit more bang for your buck. You can get the full-fat version, including War of the Chosen and all the smaller DLC packs, for just £7.16. The value for money is unreal.
There’s an even more tempting deal in there, too. Every modern XCOM, from Enemy Unknown to 2020’s Chimera Squad, plus all DLC and expansions, is currently available for £10.23 in the XCOM Ultimate Collection.
The classic X-COM series doesn’t get left out of the discounts (neither is The Bureau: XCOM Declassified). Five X-COM titles from 1993’s UFO Defense to 2001’s Enforcer are all just 74p each or £2.24 for the lot.
That’s a whole lot of X-COM/XCOM for pocket change. Not often can you pick up pretty much an entire 30-year-plus franchise for under 15 quid, but that’s very much the case here.
The only gloom surrounding this anniversary is that we haven’t had an XCOM 3, and while Firaxis’ Midnight Suns was fantastic, it’s not XCOM. I’d take an enhanced version of XCOM 2 on modern consoles in the meantime, though.
