It’s been a long wait, but Darksiders is finally back with the real sequel fans had been wishing for since 2010. Darksiders 4 has been announced at THQ Nordic’s Digital Showcase 2025.
Though the Darksiders franchise has managed to endure and even evolve over the years, both Darksiders 2 and 3 were side stories that ran in parallel to the main events of the first game. Then, in 2019, Darksiders Genesis subverted expectations with an entirely different approach and a prequel story. Now, at long last, we can look forward to a sequel that will bring all the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse together against the forces of Heaven, Hell, and the Charred Council.
Watch the reveal trailer below:
This first look takes us right back into the first game’s ending, with War deciding to face against all who wronged him and declaring the other three Horsemen will be with him. Needless to say, this is a payoff that was a long time coming.
Little else is known about the game beyond what this CG teaser trailer reveals, so it seems we’ll have to wait a bit longer to even get a definitive release window.
Gunfire Games, who took over Darksiders 3 and made a splash in 2023 with Remnant 2, is the studio handling the development of the fourquel. It’s set launch on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
