TimeSplitters is a much-beloved franchise that has sadly been very underserved over the past few game generations. That may yet change sometime in the near future, as THQ Nordic managed to get series co-creator Steve Ellis on board.
It is arguable whether TimeSplitters is still relevant in 2019, but if anyone can reinvent the franchise to mesh with current sensibilities, surely it's one of the creators of the franchise.
" Last year Deep Silver acquired the much-loved TimeSplitters IP," said THQ's announcement. "We’re delighted to announce that one of the series’ creators, Steve Ellis, has joined us to help plot the future course for this franchise."
Aside from this, there's precious little information available on what, exactly, do THQ Nordic want to do with the TimeSplitters IP, but we can tell with a fair degree of certainty that a new game is practically inevitable at this point. Judging by THQ Nordic's dedication to classic franchises (SpongeBob, Destroy all Humans!, Darksiders), there's little room for doubt.
Many other exciting announcements have also been made by THQ Nordic. For example, we now know for sure that a new Saint's Row game is being made.
