Diablo 3's Season 28 marks yet another step in the hack and slash RPG's lengthy post-launch journey, giving players more reasons to venture into Hell and beyond. As is the case with all limited-time content, knowing what its start and end dates helps with planning out your approach to obtaining all available rewards.
Diablo 3's Season 28 start and end dates are rather hard to pin down prior to an official announcement from Blizzard. The game's seasons vary in length quite a bit – ranging between 70 and 136 days – and usually have a two-week break between them, outside of special circumstances.
Diablo 3 Season 28 Release Date
Diablo 3 Seasons routinely kick off on Fridays, ending on Sundays. In the past, there have been exceptions to this rule. Season 23 and 22 ran for a total of 128 and 110 days, respectively, making them some of the longest in the game's history.
Season 27 kicked off in late August and we expect it to end somewhere between Between February and March 2023. This gives us a rough estimate of when Season 28 might begin, but do keep in mind that the dates below remain speculative until Blizzard shares official plans.
Community Manager PezRadar has now confirmed that Season 28 will arrive on the PTR "toward the tail end of January," making a February/March launch plausible.
Expected start date
- Diablo 3 Season 28 start date: Between February and March 2023 (GameWatcher estimation)
- Diablo 3 Season 28 end date: Between May and July 2023 (GameWatcher estimation)
Season 28 is now confirmed to make its way to the PTR for a week-long stay alongside patch 2.7.5.
It introduces the Rites of Sanctuary seasonal theme, which brings with it seals and legendary potion powers. They make your character stronger and can be unlocked by offering specific materials to the Altar of Rites, which waits in ruins located inside the Festering Woods.
The Primordial Ashes feature then allows you to salvage a Primal Item and gain Primordial Ashes, which you can use to unlock the new potion powers.
That's what we know so far about Diablo 3 Season 28's start date and end dates. For more on the franchise, here's what Diablo 4 is slated to bring when it launches in 2023.
