As Fellowship’s pre-season 2 update draws closer, developer Chief Rebel has shed more light on how its two new heroes bring fresh twists to playing the tank and healer roles.
In a Q&A video that also touched upon other topics, Game Director Axel Lindberg explained that while the upcoming tank hero, codenamed Sune, takes a more supportive approach, the healer, codenamed Lisa, is a time manipulator that staggers the damage party members receive from enemies.
Fellowship Pre-Season 2 Adds Support Tank and Stagger Healer As New Heroes
“With Sune, we wanted to design a tank that had a different way of managing defenses and that was a support tank that had quite a few ways to help others in the group,” Lindberg said.
“Sune can heal allies, he has cooldowns where he can potentially save the team […], and he plays fairly aggressively, but he is a lot more dependent on managing cooldowns and positioning is a big part of his kit as well.”
He goes on to explain that Sune can “create sanctuaries which he should stand in,” with certain talent builds making it beneficial for the whole party to stand in these protective areas.
Moving on to Lisa, the codename used for Fellowship’s pre-season 2’s healer, Lindberg revealed that a “stagger” mechanic lies at the core of her playstyle.
“Lisa is a time manipulator. She can make time behave differently. So, whevever you take damage […] a big portion of that damage is going to be spread out over time.”
This prompts slower health bar movement initially before the effect of the damage taken ramps up. Thus, “a lot of Lisa’s mechanics are about managing this damage over time effect, which is, in the current build, called Beacon of Time.”
Although the name isn’t final, Lisa “uses her rotation abilities and cooldowns to both heal players but also to cleanse this damage over time effect.”
Lindberg adds that “the healing that she does is all through damage.” A portion of the damage she deals heals allies in range of Beacon of Time, which covers “a large radius.”
Lisa “plays a lot like a DPS character,” but she needs to juggle between damaging foes and actively clearing the staggered damage from her party members.
