Publisher and developer Square Enix today announced the release of a free demo for Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade on both Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch. The action RPG is set to launch on Microsoft and Nintendo’s consoles on January 22, 2026.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade’s free demo includes the game’s opening chapter, which follows protagonist Cloud Strife and his allies from the underground resistance group Avalanche as they attempt to destroy a Mako Reactor powering the dystopian city of Midgar, setting the stage for the remade trilogy’s events.

Anyone giving the demo a shot can carry over their save data to the full game, should they decide to purchase it afterwards. Furthermore, keeping the demo save data on your console awards two bonus in-game items for your full playthrough, in the shape of the Revival Earrings and Survival Set.
Pre-ordering the digital version of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade on Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2 until January 31, 2026 also grants access to the original game.
Players on Xbox can download it right after completing their pre-purchase, while Nintendo Switch 2 owners get access to the title on January 22, 2026.
Physical pre-orders of the Nintendo Switch 2 version include a Final Fantasy-themed booster pack for trading card game Magic: The Gathering, while supplies last, which comes with 15 randomly assorted cards.
Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade reimagines one of the franchise’s most popular titles, making use of modern technology to turn the classic RPG into a more cinematic, action-focused experience.
The title includes the first part of the remade trilogy alongside the FF7R Episode Intermission, which follows Wutai ninja Yuffie Kisaragi “as she infiltrates the city of Midgar during the events of the base game.”
Square Enix plans to bring the entire remade trilogy to Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S, alongside PC and PS5, as part of its push towards multiplatform development.
You can download Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade’s free demo now from the Xbox Store and Nintendo eShop.
