Rockstar Games has announced that Grand Theft Auto 6 has suffered a second delay. The highly anticipated open-world title is now slated to launch on November 19, 2026.
Originally set to release in fall 2025, the game’s release date was already delayed once until May 2026. It will now spend six additional months in development.
Grand Theft Auto 6’s Second Delay Moves Release Date to November 2026
“Hi everyone, Grand Theft Auto VI will now release on Thursday, November 19, 2026,” the official Rockstar Games account wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
“We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realize has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve.
“We want to thank you again for your patience and support. While the wait is a little longer, we are incredibly excited for players to experience the sprawling state of Leonida and a return to modern day Vice City.”
Although GTA titles are no strangers to being postponed, Grand Theft Auto 6’s second delay will see it launching thirteen years after its predecessor. Even with the success of GTA Online, that’s a fairly lengthy wait.
At the same time, Rockstar Games is known for infusing insane amounts of detail into its open worlds, and polish is a key part of delivering a memorable experience at launch.
It is worth noting that Rockstar Games recently fired 30-40 of its employees, alleging “gross misconduct.” A UK union claimed the layoffs were a “union-busting” move, while parent company Take-Two Interactive explained that the two matters “are entirely separate,” denying a link between the layoffs and postponing the next entry in its wildly popular series.
No further details about the game were shared to lessen the blow. We’re keeping our fingers crossed that there won’t be a third GTA 6 delay.
